Cricket protein treats for dogs: hypoallergenic, nutritionally complete, and sustainably farmed. Insects are an ancient food source. Even today, 25% of the global population consumes insects for nutrition. We didn't like them, but our dogs did.

Crickets contain every essential amino acid which are the building blocks of healthy cells. Unlike plant-based proteins, nothing is missing. On a dry matter basis, cricket protein yields 58–78% crude protein.
Because crickets haven't appeared in commercial dog food before, your dog's immune system has no learned response to trigger. Genuinely hypoallergenic, not just labelled that way.
Cricket exoskeleton contains chitin, which is a dietary fibre that meat proteins completely lack. It acts as a prebiotic, actively supporting your dog's gut microbiome and digestion.
Rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, iron, magnesium, zinc, calcium, and vitamins B2 and B12. A nutritional profile that outpaces most conventional proteins, especially for skin and coat health in sensitive dogs.
Insects are related to ocean crustaceans like lobster and crab, making them biologically distant from most plants and animals. Meaning they carry fewer contamination risks, no E. coli, no salmonella, or other diseases that can affect conventional meat farming. Cricket farming requires no antibiotics whatsoever.

"We tasted them and realized it was exact the kind of gross our dogs would like."
We originally set out to make insect-based food for humans. In university, we watched more and more money go to groceries while trying to eat well on a tight budget. It was the macros on crickets that stopped us cold. Complete protein. All the essential amino acids. Iron, B12, omega-3s. The numbers were staggering. We tried them ourselves, and although they weren't for us, we thought there may be a couple furry friends who might love them. Enter: Farley & Ivy, our quality control panel.
We are realists about food. We have watched meat prices skyrocket and lived among our strained farmers, who are handcuffed by inflated input costs. Far from fear-mongers, we grew up on Canadian beef. The world has changed before our eyes, and cricket protein is a practical honest answer to a real world problem. Not because it's trendy, but because when you look at the numbers, it's hard to argue with.
Crickeats is built on that: a protein source that's nutritionally excellent, genuinely safe for sensitive dogs, and grown right here in Canada from start to finish.
